How we get paid

The short answerThe data buyer pays us a referral fee, and only if your company signs a deal and the buyer pays it. You pay us nothing, and our fee does not come out of your company's payment.

Who pays the fee?

Data buyers pay referral fees to the people and firms who introduce companies to them. We are one of those firms. The fee is set by the buyer's referral terms, not by your deal, and it is paid separately from what your company receives.

Does that affect our advice?

We only get paid when a deal closes, so we have a reason to want deals to happen. We manage that in three ways. We tell you plainly when your company isn't a fit. We send you to one buyer at a time and tell you who it is. And we always recommend your own lawyer reviews any agreement before you sign.

Do partners get a share?

Sometimes. If an advisor you work with, such as your IT provider or consultant, introduced you to us, they may receive part of our fee. They should tell you that, and so will we.

Will we ever be asked to pay?

No. If anyone asks your company for an upfront fee to license its data, treat it as a warning sign.
